No the coats of slurry do not affect the height of the asphalt.
What are the advantages of asphalt over concrete? Asphalt is more cost effective, it is also less expensive to repair and it does not need to be removed it can easily be resurfaced.
Why should I sealcoat my asphalt pavement? The Parking lot of our development is showing age, How do we determine when it's ready for repair? You will see cracks and areas alligatoring. If neglected these areas will usually become pot holes.
If I give you my project to be paved, How do I know you will show up when scheduled? There are a lot of variables in the paving business that can change our schedule such as equipment and plant breakdowns, heavy traffic, weather conditions and cars being moved. Scheduling is very important to Athens-Atlanta Asphalt Co., Inc., we will show up when scheduled. Should problems arise in the field that may delay our schedule you will be notified in advance
What is Hot Mix Asphalt? Also
known as blacktop - known in our industry as asphalt pavement or hot
mix pavement. Asphalt is an engineered mixture of aggregates. There are
two basic ingredients in hot mix asphalt. The first is the aggregates
(crushed stone, gravel and sand) and the second is asphalt cement (AC) -
the black liquid that holds the pavement together. Mix the two
ingredients and you get Hot Mix Asphalt. How soon can I drive on my new driveway? A: We generally recommend that you wait 48 hours before driving on a new driveway; however the duration does vary depending on the time of year, how much sunlight your driveway is exposed to, as well as other factors.
Recycling
Asphalt is a recyclable material, it can be used over and over, and its life-cycle never ends. Asphalt roads can be dug up and then re-used again. This is what makes asphalt such a popular, modern day material. When we use it we are preserving our natural resources
Durability of Asphalt Paving
Asphalt is a reliable weather resistant material and can be designed for low and high traffic conditions. It can withstand the harshest of weathers and the heaviest of semi-trailers. Asphalt can also be designed to fit a specific purpose!
Asphalt Paving Safety
Asphalt's safety feature is related to its smooth-like finish. It offers drivers skid resistance, reduced splash back and better visual distinction between road markings. Asphalt also helps keep roads free from ice and snow.
added to maintenance repair ---->What is the difference between installing 1 coat vs 2 coats? When we apply slurry seal older unmaintained asphalt will absorb the oil and aggregate that has been lost over time from wear and tear ie. driving on te asphalt, running water as well as oil and oxidation. The first layer soaks in and absorbs into the asphalt as well as protects, but the second layer allows the asphalt to truly be sealed and protected from the elements. This does of course break down overtime, that is why scheduled maintenance every 2-3 years is needed. It can more than double the life of your asphalt. Note: Slurry will not fill potholes and cracks, it will sink into the cracks and slightly fill them to protect them from absorbing more water, this will prevent the cracks from becoming deeper but if you would like to have the cracks filled, a commercial grade crack fill mixture is needed.
